Nederlandse Afdeling - Lycée International

About the Dutch Section

For more than 50 years, the Dutch Section has been providing high-quality bilingual education to children with a Dutch or Flemish background in the Paris region.

Our history

The Dutch Section was founded in 1968 as part of the Lycée International de Saint-Germain-en-Laye. The Lycée International itself was established in 1952 to provide mother tongue education to children of foreign diplomats and business families in the Paris region.

Today, the Dutch Section is a thriving community of more than 300 students, supported by dedicated teachers and an active parent association.

Our mission

We strive to offer students the best of both worlds: a solid foundation in the Dutch language and culture, combined with an excellent French education that prepares them for higher studies in the Netherlands, France, and beyond.

Our core values
  • Excellence – High academic standards
  • Identity – Preservation and development of Dutch culture
  • Community – Strong bonds between families
  • Inclusivity – Welcome for all bilingual levels

The Lycée International

The Lycée International is unique in France. With 14 international sections, it provides education to more than 3,000 students from around the world. All sections follow the French national curriculum, supplemented by education in their respective mother tongues.

The school is located in beautiful Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a historic town on the outskirts of Paris with excellent facilities for families.

Our team

The Dutch Section is led by a dedicated team of Dutch and Belgian teachers, supported by a directorate and administrative staff. Our teachers are passionate about passing on the Dutch language and culture to the next generation.

Accreditation and recognition

The Dutch Section is recognized by the Dutch Ministry of Education. The BFI diploma (formerly OIB) with Dutch option is recognized for admission to universities in the Netherlands, Belgium, and worldwide.
